Facing Current Challenges - Essays on Judaism
The central challenge facing the Jewish people during the last two hundred
years has been how to relate to the general culture. Not yet having arrived at a
consensus on how best to deal with its enormous possibilities and concomitant
dangers, such as personal freedom, equal rights, sexual "liberation",
secularism, and more, as well as scientific, medical and technological
innovations, and others.
Based on rigorous study of the depths of the Talmud and Scriptures, the essays
here were originally given as lectures at the Jerusalem College of Technology -
Machon Lev, almost all of them at the request of students.
The author, Rabbi Prof. Yehudah Levi is a former Rector, head of the
Physics/Electro-optics Department of the Jerusalem College of Technology, and
has been a President of the American Orthodox Jewish Scientists both in the USA
and Israel. He has published many books and journals on Torah and technical
