HaRav Tzvi Yehudah, the son of HaRav Avraham Yitzchak HaCohen Kook, was an outstanding scholar and personality in his own right. He was Rosh Yeshivat Mercaz HaRav for close to fifty years. He oversaw the revolution that took place as the young students from the "new yishuv" as it was then called, the "kipot haserugot" started going to yeshivot. Mercaz HaRav, under Tzvi Zvi Yehudah opened the doors before these young boys, and changed the course of history. Students of Mercaz HaRav, many of them pupils of HaRav Tzvi Yehudah, haven taken their places in the very front in almost all fields: the Rabbinate, education, settlements, industry and politics.
