Author’s Preface. This collection of articles, written over various years, will be published during turbulent times. However, in our history, such times have practically never been peaceful. It is no wonder we constantly hope for a better future, since neither the past nor the present offers much hope. To make this bright future possible, this book was written, entirely dedicated to one theme: the relationship between man and the Creator. The author sincerely believes that the quality of these relationships determines everything else—the focus and meaning of our efforts, the motivation for our work, the content of our connections in family and society, the upbringing of children, and ultimately, the level of humanity. But a necessary condition for the integrity of our decisions and efforts is clarity of consciousness and an understanding of the meaning of the words we speak. It’s not at all trivial to understand the meaning of words like “God,” “faith,” “good,” and “commandments.” Most of the believers I’ve met in my life had a very vague understanding of the words they spoke (not to mention those who identified themselves as non-believers!), and this was due to the vagueness and obscurity of the concepts behind them. To the best of my ability and skill, I’ve tried to help clarify these and similar issues for the reader. And even if I fail to convince anyone of my correctness, I’ll be glad that these topics have become a subject for reflection.
