Torah Anthology Vol. 37 : Mishlei (Proverbs) Vol. 2

Words are not heeded except in accordance with the stature of the person speaking. These are "The proverbs of Solomon son of David, King of Israel," A man lost a pearl in a dark place. He knows the pearl is there but lacks the means to find it, since he cannot see, He lights a wick. An allegory or proverb is very little in itself. But it can help us get at a great and splendid idea. The Torah says: "I have taught you statutes... Keep them and do them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding..." Solomon's words help us see clearly the wisdom and understanding of the Torah.
